ALma Bryant 2016 Hurricane Band

The fall of 2015 the band performed to the theme: MUSIC Makes the MOVIES! Selections included: Christine Aguilera’s: “Show me how you Burlesque”, the 2004 spectacular super family of crime fighters: The Incredibles! The band played the jazz selection from Toy Story 2: You've Got a Friend in Me!  By the end of the Season we closed with Star Trek- the original music and the Next Generation.

The 2015 Hurricane Band won ALL SUPERIORS at Azalea City marching competition, and rated Best in Class AA in the Deep South Band Competition!

This fall of 2016 the halftime theme is “You think You can Dance?” Opening with Attitude Dance from the Tower of Power, followed by Wake Me Up, the international hit by Swedish DJ and producer Avicii. The band then sings the introduction of Hooked on a Feeling, which was #1 in 1974 and brought back to life by Guardians of the Galaxy. We close the dance show with Paula Abdul’s 1989 Cold-Hearted popularized in the Drumline movie.

Student elected Officers of the band are Jordan Hemmingway, President; Vice-president Jackson Childress; Chaplain is Larry Harbison; Sgt at Arms is Gabby Lofton; Drum captain is Tyler Allen.  The band office staff includes Music librarian Katie Clark, and office manager Shae Johnson.

The Drum Major leading the band on field this 2016 is Gail Lyons, who was an All-State contra-bass clarinet player performed in Bryant's marching and concert band, and Mobile County Honor Band member.

Flag captains are senior veterans Eva Hill, Alexis Bradley, and Whitney Middleton.

Many thanks to Assistant Band Director Lynda Sims and the Flag coordinator Angie Thompson for all their help with the band and Flag corps. And many thanks to Tanya Parent in charge of the 25 Kickin’ Cane Dancers often highlighted in the show.
