ASVAB, PSAT, and ACT
Scores from the most recent ASVAB are in, and have been given out to Juniors. The ASVAB is an aptitude test used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces. The scores from the recent ASVAB tests this year range from 5-98. The highest score to achieve is a 100. Getting a high score on this test can result in getting higher positions in the military and many benefits. If you’re interested in going to a military college then you need a high test score.
The PSAT is on October 19, 2016. The PSAT is a national merit finalist program. Only juniors are considered for scholarships, but ninth and tenth graders are encouraged to take the test in preparation. In Alabama, the threshold score to qualify for scholarships is 215. The price to take the PSAT is $16.00.
The ACT is given 6 times a year. The next date for it is the 22nd of October, 2016. The ACT is a nationally administered, standardized paper-and-pencil test that helps colleges evaluate candidates. Scores range from 1 to 36. It costs $39.50 without the writing portion and $56.60 with the writing portion. If you turn your money in late the fee for that is $25.00. However, if a junior or senior receives free or reduced lunch then the student can receive two fee waivers.
Other ACT dates are December 10, February 11, April 8, and June 10.
