Mrs. Conklan Henley is Teacher of the Year at Alma Bryant High School.
Mrs. Henley was very surprised when she received a beautiful arrangement of flowers along with a card saying that she had just been chosen as Teacher of the Year. She says, “I was very humbled thinking of the amazing teachers here who have taught me so much.”
Mr. Estle has nothing but kind words of praise for Mrs. Conklan- Henley and stated, “She has left a positive impact on students as well as the faculty. She works tirelessly for the benefit of others and has implemented programs to help students reach their full capabilities.”
Mrs. Henley attended South Alabama and has been teaching for eleven years. She began her teaching career at an elementary school, took a break for four years to spend quality time with her child, and then returned to school at Alma Bryant High School where she has worked for five years.
Mrs. Henley is the PST Chair and a reading specialist. Other teachers allow her to come into their classrooms and practice reading strategies with their students. She stated, “My favorite part of teaching is working with a student who is struggling to learn. I want to help those kids see a purpose. I like to help them have a positive experience in school so that they will want to learn and gain a passion for it.”
Overall she is a pretty cool teacher.
