On Wednesday, April 9th, Alma Bryant High School held class meetings with students to discuss course selection for the upcoming school year. During these sessions, school leaders introduced a new and exciting opportunity for students—the Workforce Pathway Diploma.
The Workforce Pathway Diploma is designed to prepare students for life after high school by offering early access to career-centered coursework and hands-on experience in various industries. This diploma track provides students with the opportunity to explore multiple career paths and gain real-world skills before graduation.
To be eligible for the Workforce Pathway Diploma, students must meet the following criteria:
Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher
Be enrolled in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway
Score 70% or higher in each pathway course
Complete MCPSS math and science graduation requirements
If a student qualifies and is interested in pursuing this diploma, they must participate in a face-to-face Individualized Student Planning Session with a parent or guardian for final approval.
It is important for students and families to carefully consider their options before committing to the Workforce Pathway Diploma. Students pursuing this diploma will not be eligible for the Honors Diploma track. In addition, they must take into account NCAA athletic eligibility requirements and specific college or career admissions criteria.
To support families in this decision-making process, Alma Bryant will host parent meetings on Monday, April 14th, at 10:00 A.M. and again at 5:30 P.M. These sessions will give parents a chance to learn more about the diploma, ask questions, and understand the impact on their child’s academic future.
Alma Bryant High School is committed to providing students with opportunities that prepare them for success—whether that’s college, the workforce, or military service. The Workforce Pathway Diploma is another step in that mission. We thank our parents and guardians for their continued support and look forward to a bright future for all of our Hurricanes!
