Alma Bryant Graduate Lexi Jayy Shines on Music’s Biggest Night

When Lexi Jayy stepped onto the Grammy stage this week, it wasn’t just a performance—it was the realization of a lifelong dream. For the Alma Bryant High School Class of 2012 graduate, the moment represented years of dedication, growth, and belief in herself.

“Performing on the Grammy stage was so surreal,” Lexi shared. “I’ve been singing since I was a toddler and have dreamed of this moment all my life. It was one of the most amazing, accomplishing feelings.”

Lexi’s journey began right here at Alma Bryant, where she discovered and developed her passion for performing. As a student, she was actively involved in choir and later joined the theatre program—experiences she credits with shaping her as an artist.

“Choir taught me that there are many ways to sing and that it’s important to be diverse in your music,” she said. “Theatre helped me learn how to perform and connect with an audience.”

It wasn’t until later in life, however, that Lexi fully realized how far music could take her. After becoming a mother, her perspective shifted.

“I started taking music seriously not long after having my beautiful children,” she explained. “I wanted them to see that you can do anything you put your mind to—because Mom did.”

Like many artists, Lexi’s path hasn’t been without challenges. One of the biggest lessons she’s learned along the way is patience.

“Everything that’s great takes time,” she said. “If you rush it, it’s never going to be your best work. Be patient and perfect your craft—whatever that is.”

Throughout her journey, Lexi says her family has been her biggest source of support. “They’ve been there every step of the way,” she shared. “Whenever I need them, they show up.”

Now, as a Grammy performer, Lexi understands the impact her story can have on students back at Alma Bryant.

“It feels amazing,” she said. “I was once that student wondering what my future would look like after high school. I won ‘Most Likely to Be Famous’ and ‘Most Likely to Succeed,’ so I’m proud I was able to live up to that.”

Her advice to current Bryant students is simple but powerful:
“Go for it. Don’t let people tell you that you can’t. And just because someone says no doesn’t mean that’s your final answer.”

Some of Lexi’s favorite memories from Bryant include participating in talent shows—something she eagerly tried out for every chance she got. She also credits the teachers who pushed her to grow, particularly in theatre and English.

“Mr. Browne encouraged me to learn theatre so I could be better at what I do, and now I have so much respect for him,” she said. “Mrs. Smith, my English teacher, pushed me hard—and I use what she taught me every day in songwriting.”

As for what’s next, Lexi says this is only the beginning. “I have a lot of things happening in 2026,” she teased. “I’m so excited for the world to see.”

With dreams of one day collaborating with Chris Brown and a career that continues to rise, Lexi Jayy is living proof of what’s possible when talent meets perseverance.

And to her Alma Bryant family, she leaves this message:
“Thank you all so much for your support. ❤️”
