“You don’t have to be great to keep going. You have to keep going to become great.”
Success rarely happens all at once. It comes from showing up when you’re tired, learning from mistakes, and choosing to give effort even when things get difficult.
That’s where GRIT comes in:
Growth — Learn from every challenge.
Resilience — Bounce back when things don’t go your way.
Integrity — Do what’s right, even when it’s hard.
Toughness — Keep going when it would be easier to quit.
Whatever challenge you’re facing today, remember: the hard days are building you for the better days ahead.
🌪️ Show GRIT. Keep going. Never Settle.
For those testing on October 15th (10th and 9th grade), you will be allowed to be out of uniform that day.
A — Accountability
“Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to results.” — Bob Proctor
Accountability means owning your choices, your effort, and your attitude. You may not control everything that happens today, but you control how you respond.
Hurricane Challenge: Don’t make excuses today. Own it. Fix it. Learn from it. Get better.
“Accountability is doing what you said you would do, even when no one is watching.”
Accountability means owning your choices, your effort, and your attitude. Every decision you make today is an opportunity to become the person you want to be. Be responsible. Own your actions. Keep moving forward.
🌪️ Be a CANE. Be Accountable.
This week, we return to the G in GRIT: Growth.
Growth doesn’t happen overnight. It happens when we choose to learn from our mistakes, embrace challenges, and make a little progress each day.
As John Maxwell said, “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.”
This week, let’s challenge ourselves and our students to focus on progress, not perfection. Every small step forward matters, and every challenge is an opportunity to become better than we were yesterday.
Keep learning. Keep improving. Keep growing.
At Alma Bryant High School, we believe that a small act of kindness can make a BIG difference!
Our Hurricane G-Team is excited to launch the Caring Canes: Pin It Forward Campaign, a student-led initiative designed to spread positivity, encouragement, and kindness throughout our campus.
Beginning Monday, September 21, our G-Team (GRIT TEAM) members will be distributing colorful clothespins decorated with positive messages to students across campus.
📌 How does it work?
When you receive a Caring Canes pin, take a moment to read the message and let it brighten your day. Then, PIN IT FORWARD! Pass your pin along to another student by attaching it to their backpack, notebook, or jacket.
Our goal is simple: Keep the kindness moving! One pin can travel from student to student, spreading encouragement and reminding everyone that they matter.
The campaign will continue throughout October as we work together to create a campus where every student feels valued, supported, and connected.
Tomorrow’s Pep Rally theme is 80’s! Students who would like to be out of uniform must be dressed in the theme. Simply being out of uniform does not count as participating in the dress-up day.
80’s-themed outfits must still follow school expectations. No hats; cowboy or steel-toe boots; masks or anything that covers your face or identity; spaghetti straps, low-cut or sleeveless shirts; crop tops or clothing that exposes the midriff; or skirts. Clothing may not display or represent drugs, weapons, or political statements.
Think neon colors, windbreakers, leg warmers, sweatbands, denim, bright colors, and other school-appropriate 80’s styles!
If you choose not to participate in the 80’s theme, you are expected to be in regular school uniform. Have fun with it, be creative, stay within the guidelines, and let’s have a great Pep Rally Day as we get ready for the MGM Vikings! ❤️💙📼

Do what you don't want to do to get to where you want to be! Show up every day and put in the work!

This week, we focus on the E in our CANES Creed: Empathy.
Empathy means taking the time to understand what someone else may be going through. We may not always know the challenges our students or coworkers are facing, but a little patience, kindness, and understanding can make a big difference.
As Maya Angelou said, “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
Today, look for an opportunity to encourage someone, listen a little longer, or simply show kindness.
Show Empathy. Be a CANE. 🌪️
🏈💙 DAPHNE GAMEDAY MEDIA GUIDE ❤️🏈
Our latest Eye Network Gameday Media Guide is available, featuring the Hurricanes’ matchup with the Daphne Trojans!
This edition was once again created with the help of our student-led Eye Network Media Team and takes you behind the scenes of Hurricane Football. Inside, you’ll find interviews with Coach Sessions and our players, game coverage, photography, features, and more highlighting the people who make our program special.
The media guide is about much more than football. Our students gain real-world experience in interviewing, writing, photography, graphic design, editing, and digital publishing while helping tell the story of Alma Bryant High School.
Take a few minutes to check out the Daphne Gameday Media Guide and see the work our students are producing. We are proud to give our students a platform to showcase their talents while continuing to change the narrative and highlight Hurricane GRIT throughout Cane Nation! 💙❤️

This week, we focus on the N in our CANES Creed: Never Settle.
Never settling means always looking for ways to improve. It is choosing to give a little more effort, learn from yesterday, and continue pushing toward the best version of ourselves.
As Vince Lombardi said, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
Today, let’s encourage our students and each other to keep raising the standard. Keep growing. Keep pushing. Never settle.
Never Settle. Be a CANE. 🌪️
As part of our continued commitment to keeping our students and staff safe, Alma Bryant High School conducted an emergency severe weather drill today. These drills give our students, teachers, and staff the opportunity to practice the procedures we would follow during an actual severe weather emergency.
We appreciate everyone for taking today’s drill seriously, following directions, and helping us ensure our campus is prepared. The safety of our students and staff will always be a top priority at Alma Bryant. 💙❤️

This week, our focus is the I in GRIT: Integrity.
Integrity is doing what is right, even when no one is watching. The choices we make each day, even the small ones, help shape our character and influence the people around us.
As C.S. Lewis said, “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”
This week, let’s challenge ourselves and our students to lead by example. Make the right choice. Be someone others can count on. Lead with integrity.
Have a great week, and Go Canes! 🌪️
