Aquaculture Pathway

Students who enroll in the Aquaculture Pathway will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to move beyond the harvesting of wild seafood to an industry of seafood production and harvesting. Through the courses, students will learn about aquaculture systems, water chemistry & management, system design & maintenance, health & sanitation, and other aquaculture issues. Students have a unique hands on learning experience through our campus aquacenter, where we raise crawfish and grow plants through hydroponics. Also, students in the upper level courses will have the opportunity to grow oysters for research and restoration at our oyster farm, located at Point Aux Pins.
